This weekend, we are celebrating two great holidays. I would like to wish you and your family a Happy Flag Day on Saturday and a Happy Fathers Day on Sunday.
June 14th is Flag Day and commemorates the day in 1777 when the Continental Congress adopted the stars and stripes as the official American flag.
Since that day, American men and women have fought for our freedoms and liberties, united under what the U.S. flag represents. I know I am thankful for the liberty and justice that our flag symbolizes and am grateful to live in the greatest nation on earth.
Happy Flag Day!
This Sunday, we are also celebrating Fathers Day. I have been blessed with three wonderful children and grandchildren, and am looking forward to spending the day with my family.
Fathers Day is a wonderful time to celebrate fatherhood, paternal bonds and the important men in our lives. So to all the fathers, grandfathers, and men who helped shape the worlds of others, enjoy your day!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with love and celebration. Happy Fathers Day!
I recently attended the retirement celebration for Colonel Eric Ahlness who served in the United States Army for 28 years.
During my first term as a legislator, Col. Ahlness served as the legislative liaison to the legislature, testifying and advocating for a number of important veteran initiatives. It was wonderful to celebrate his career of service at American Legion Post 39 in North Saint Paul.
So congratulations Col. Ahlness and thank you for your service to our state and nation!
As always, thank you for the honor and privilege of being your state representative.
